As an athletic director, he embodied good sportsmanship and athletic integrity. During his teaching career, Jeff enjoyed coaching wrestling and football. He wrestled on the SUNY Delhi National Championship Team, as well as for SUNY Cortland. Moore High School in Central Square for three years, and a Physical Education teacher at Sandy Creek School District for 15 years. He was previously employed as an Assistant High School Principal at Paul V. He was employed by Pulaski Central School District as the Athletic Director for 15 years, retiring in 2019. Jeff was married to Carolyn Platt on November 19, 1988. He went on to earn a masters degree in Education, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Study in Administration. He earned his bachelors degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1981. Jeff was born in Syracuse, the son of William and Alta Ridgeway Shirley. Shirley, age 56, life resident of Lacona, passed away Wednesday at his home. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn, three sons, Troy (Kaitlyn) Shirley of Hilton, NY, Matthew Shirley of Greensboro, NC and John Shirley of Hamburg, NY, two brothers, Ronald (Nancy) Shirley and Thomas (Michelle) Shirley both of Lacona, one grandson, Jackson Shirley of Hilton and several nieces and nephews. He enjoyed supporting his sons athletic and academic endeavors, as well as spending time hunting and fishing with them. Jeff loved his family, especially his wife and three sons.
